Egypt’s State Information Service: New Traffic Laws August 2008

Video: Cairo Traffic in One Minute from YouTube.com

One way to try to beat the traffic is to ride on Cairo's Metro. This tram system covers nearly 43 km and was designed to carry 60,000 passengers per hour in each direction. Currently it carries about 2 million passengers a day and new lines are under construction. Just look for a sign like the one below and you’re off. Each ticket costs only LE 1 or about 19 US cents.
